Laboratory Scale Long Transmission Line SCADA

Transmission line is one of the vital component in electrical power system. Transmission lines operating condition is normally monitored by supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems. In academic institutions generally the study of SCADA is limited to theory courses without any practical experiment in the lab due to the nature of its complexity and cost involved. This paper describes a low budget experimental set up that has been developed for demonstration of SCADA on a laboratory scale long transmission line model. A low voltage model has been developed for a transmission line system of600km at a voltage level of 400kV. In addition commercial version of Circuitor's Power studio SCADA software has been used for the analysis of the parameters of the long transmission line.
