Stochastic User Equilibrium and System Optimum with Heterogeneous Path Choice Sets

This paper investigates the stochastic user equilibrium problem when travellers have different path choice sets. Based on the assumption that travellers are heterogeneous when choosing their prevailing paths, a novel logit-based stochastic user equilibrium model is proposed. The cost approximation method is applied to solve this model. In addition, the stochastic system optimum problem under heterogeneous path sets is also investigated. Results show that system optimum can be obtained by implementing marginal cost congestion pricing. Numerical experiments are also conducted.
