Application of AC Voltage Regulators for Asynchronous Motors Connection to the Power Supply

The approach to apply AC voltage regulators for asynchronous motors connection to the power supply is discussed in the article. An assessment of AC voltage regulators power is made. Sinusoidal thyristor AC voltage regulator is presented. It provides high resolution of voltage regulation on the stator windings of the asynchronous motor during its start-up and in the steady state of its operation. The analysis of electromagnetic processes during the operation of the thyristor AC voltage regulator in dynamic modes is done. The simulation of AC motor start up process from power supply with the help of thyristor AC voltage regulator in Matlab/Simulink is presented. The advantages of AC motors connection to the power supply with the help of AC voltage regulators are considered.
