The Analysis of EM Absorption for Biological Tissue due to RF Radiation Measured Inside the Enclosed Metallic Chamber

The aim of this paper is to analyze the electromagnetic (EM) absorption of biological tissue due to radio frequency (RF) radiation within an enclosed metallic chamber which is internally shielded with radiation absorbent material (RAM). The reason for using such type of chamber is to reduce the external interference as well as to alleviate the internal reflection so that the measurement result shows more accuracy. The entire experiment was performed inside the aforementioned metallic chamber where an 850 MHz dipole antenna was used as a transmitter. And goat tissue was considered as sample of biological tissue during experiment. Radiation data were taken as detector current by varying the angular positions between the transmitting and receiving antenna. Experimental results indicate that the absorption of EM field is high at 15° angular position and the absorption is lower inside the chamber compared to the free space. Although the experiment was performed within a short period of time, it would help to analyze the absorption of EM radiation within an elevator, aircraft, or other metallic chambers.
