Toxicity Study of Solid Carbon Nanotube-Based Composites

The reaction of the bird organism to the introduction of solid composite nanomaterials in the composition of carbon nanotubes was investigated. At the first stage, an aqueous dispersion containing bovine serum albumin (25 wt.% BSA) and single-wall carbon nanotubes (0.001 wt.% SWCNT) in distilled water was prepared. Under the action of laser radiation evaporation of the water component was produced to obtain a composite BSA/SWCNT nanomaterial rubber-like constitution. The second stage was the introduction of the manufactured composite to laboratory birds and the observation of them. The third stage was a histological examination. On sections, there is a picture of a local inflammatory reaction which is expressed in the accumulation of leukocytes, predominantly of the lymphoid series, and in the formation of a connective tissue capsule around the site of the composite introduction. During the period (100 days) the composite was resorbed in the organism and decreased three times.
