A Study of the Possibility of Predicting Main Parameters of a Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing in Patients with Congestive Heart Failure

The aim of this work is to assess the possibility of peak heart rate and peak oxygen consumption rate prediction based on the data from the initial stages of a cardiopulmonary exercise testing. Data were obtained from a cardiopulmonary exercise testing on the cycle ergometer of 157 patients with congestive heart failure (108 males and 49 females) and processed in order to create a linear regression equation of the peak heart rate. A predictive method for estimating the peak oxygen consumption rate using data obtained at the initial stages of the exercise protocol is described. The results show a relatively good accuracy of the peak heart rate prediction and a poor accuracy of the peak oxygen consumption rate prediction.
