The System of Wireless Energy Transfer

The system of wireless energy transfer is described in the paper. The system consists of two microstrip structures, each does not emit microwave energy at its single localizations. While approaching of these structures face-to-face they form the microwave directional coupler which possesses a good performance in energy transfer from one structure to another. The results of system modeling are presented in the paper. System modeling was carried out in AWR design environment. The modeling results showed the energy losses did not exceed 1 dB at the distance between system parts in 10 mm. The prototype of energy transfer system was made. Experimental investigations on energy transfer at different conditions were carried out. Experimental data had proved the modeling results. System may transfer energy above hundreds watts and can be used in practice in wide spectrum of applications. It seems the most useful application is the battery charging of autonomous apparatus such as electric cars, unmanned aerial vehicle etc.
