Ground Clutter Filter Implementation of dual-PRF signals for X-band weather radar

Nonuniform sampled scheme effectively mitigates the Doppler dilemma for X-band weather radar but makes the ground clutter mitigation problem more challenging. To address this problem, we propose a clutter filter method applied to dual pulse repetition frequency (i.e., dual-PRF) signals with a finite impulse response (FIR) filter bank designed under the minimum mean-square error criterion. CLEAN-AP filter algorithm is utilized to adaptively select filters that match the clutter level. Thus, the filter bank can provide effective clutter suppression in almost all cases we expect even though it is not generated in real time. It has been proved by simulation that this method can get good performance of meteorological variables estimation.
