Passive timing stabilization over a 33-km single mode fiber link using temporal imaging

We demonstrate a temporal imaging system that uses parametric wavelength conversion and dispersion to distribute a stabilized clock and passively correct for environmental distortions. By proper engineering of the dispersive frequency-to-time mapping of the fiber link and the temporal imaging system, we can generate a clock signal that is drift free. Our proof of concept experiment in a 33-kilometer fiber link reduces timing fluctuations over two decades, reaching below 1e-15 fractional frequency error at 1000 seconds.
