GeO2 Doped Polarization Maintaining Fiber for Residual Dispersion Compensation

In this article, proposed photonic crystal fiber is GeO₂ doped elliptical core with asymmetric shaped hexagonal clad to attain ultra-flattened negative dispersion with high birefringence. From the simulation results, it is found that in the cladding using circular and elliptical air holes combination, Gaining large average dispersion of -856.15 ps/nm/km is possible with a dispersion variation of 8 ps/nm/km over S+C+L+U optical band of interest for the fundamental slow axis mode. Tailoring the design parameters in optimum level, a high birefringence of 6.65×10^-2 and a nonlinearity of 70.87 W^-1km^-1at 1.55 μm wavelength. Our considered structure is very effective for residual dispersion compensation. It could be used in the optical sensor, high bit rate coherent communication, and as a polarization maintaining fiber because of its high birefringence.
