Investigation of Potential Opportunities for LoRaWAN Technology in Conditions of Urban Construction on the Example of Pycom Modules

This article describes a principle of operation and main technical characteristics of modern open network protocol LoRaWan on the example of Pycom modules. LoRaWAN is the perspective energy-efficient technology of long-range distance significant advantages over Wi-Fi and cellular networks for “Internet of Things” and others service. The article shows the experimental researches dependence of received signal level and Signal-to-noise ratio on different floors of a building. Experimental researches dependence of received signal level and Signal-to-noise ratio on distance in conditions of open terrain and in urban conditions. Based on the results of exploratory studies, the maximum range of more than 10 floors in the building and in free space up to 5 km.
