Study on Energy Management System for Energy Saving on Semi Underground Rotary Parking Lot

The demand for parking space has been increased especially in urban area where office and commercial building densely emerged. With limited parking area on the ground, vertical parking system become one of the solutions to increase parking capacity within the same space as the conventional parking space. The proposed vertical parking in this research was focused on rotary parking since it requires the most minimum space of ground area. Furthermore, to reduce the high of the vertical parking, installing the vertical parking deep down into the underground has been another solution for increasing parking capacity. The parking system designed on this paper was installing the rotary parking semi underground which means the upper half of the rotary parking is still above the ground while the lower half of the rotary parking is buried under the ground level. The proposed parking lot was equipped with an energy storage system, power backup generator, intelligent control, and renewable energy source. Aside from the cost aspect in constructing this underground structure, this paper considers the energy saving scenarios which can be performed in this semi underground rotary parking system. Energy saving on this semi underground parking lot was facilitated using a smart inverter energy management system which was implanted with energy saving algorithm, intelligent control, spike absorber technique, and parking lots integration. The algorithm was calculating the intrusion from external factor, integrate it with internal sensor, and real time monitoring system. The result was shown to have 30 to 40 % energy saving which can be increased depend on certain parking structure and environment. It was concluded that additional equipment in semi underground rotary parking need a certain manner and algorithm so the parking operator could have a proper level of energy saving.
