Spectrum and Traffic Aware Routing Protocol with cooperative information collection method for CR-VANET

The spectrum allocated by Federal Communication Commission for Vehicular Adhoc Networks (VANET) is insufficient due to the increasing vehicular applications and vehicle density on the roads. So, we propose Cognitive Radio enabled VANET (CR-VANET) for the better spectrum availability. This paper proposes spectrum and traffic aware routing protocol with cooperative information collection method for achieving better efficiency. The methodology first senses the spectrum holes and allocates channel using cooperative spectrum sensing. Then the relay node is selected from the road weight obtained by our traffic aware routing algorithm. We consider vehicle to vehicle (V2V) communication for a highway scenario. The simulation results show that better packet delivery ratio and spectrum allocation is achieved by our method.
