User-Involved Optimal Charging Control for Lithium-Ion Batteries

Charging is a crucial process for the battery's energy storage and necessitates an effective management. A user-involved optimal charging control strategy is proposed in this study, which allows the users to set their charging demands and automatically adjusts the charging current to meet them. Firstly, an optimal SOC charging trajectory is generated by formulating and solving a constrained optimization issue with considering user demand and charging constraints based on battery nominal model. Then, a SOC tracking based charging algorithm with battery model bias on-line compensation is proposed to make the battery track the pre-scheduled optimal SOC trajectory to the greatest extent while guaranteeing all charging constraints. Simulation results demonstrate that the user demand can be well accomplished through the proposed user-involved optimal charging method.
