Reconstruction of Aircraft Lateral Dynamics Using Two Transmissibility Operators

Transmissibilities relate one system output to another system output without knowledge of the external excitation. The numerator and denominator of a transmissibility are thus the numerators of the respective input-output transfer functions from the external excitation to the sensor signals. In this paper, we show that a pair of transmissibilities can be used to reconstruct the underlying dynamics of the system. We apply this technique to reconstruct lateral aircraft dynamics with measurements of roll-rate and yaw-rate perturbations from steady straight-line flight and without using knowledge of the control surface deflections and thrust.
