Indirect Vector Control of iNduction Motor Using a Five-Level Cascaded H-Bridge Inverter

Three-phase Induction motors are widely used in industry for industrial drives applications. These machines have several advantages of being robust, reliable and simple in construction. For this purpose, these types of machines are now more used in variable speed applications. They make part of vector commands. Accurate control of induction machine with harmonic reduce of magnetic flux, minimization of torque pulses was always the goal of studies. The major drawback of induction machine control is harmonics, which is caused by the use of two-level inverter. Therefore, in our study we will integrate multilevel inverter for the induction machine control to solve this issue. In this paper, the approach for induction machine control is based on indirect field-oriented control and is fed by a cascaded 5-level. Alternate Phase Opposition Disposition multi carrier PWM technique is used to control switching of multilevel inverter. The simulation work is carried out with Matlab/Simulink. The goal is to improve reliability, to suppress the harmonics, and to minimize the torque pulses.
