An Optimized STATCOM for Higher Quality of the Power System

In this paper we seek mean to solve the load growth for an existing electrical system by firstly: Building news electrical plants (therrnical, hydro electrical or renewable energy). And, then when the production and energy demand are difficult to match due to lack of energy infrastructures in 2025. It is proposed to install a FACTS (Flexible Alternative Current Transmission Systems) system at these buses to compensate or provide reactive power in order to maintain a better voltage profile and transmit more power to customers. Mathematical models are solved by the iterative method of Newton Raphson and simulated through MATLAB software and PSSR/E Simulator. The results of simulation show the possibility to increase the active power transits and control the reactive power in the network until horizon 2025 year. The proposed system will have the benefic effect for industrial consumers, reduction of load imbalances and a control of the voltages fluctuations due to the rapid reactive power demand variations.
