Fuzzy Logic-based Control System for Dissolved Oxygen Control on Indoor Shrimp Cultivation

Dissolved oxygen is the one of the most defining parameters on indoor shrimp cultivation. This parameter states the amount of oxygen that is dissolved in the water which is needed to support the shrimp growth. Dissolved oxygen needs to be maintained because it affects the survive rate of the shrimp. Therefore, a control system is need to be applied to maintain this parameter at acceptable value for an indoor cultivation. This step must be taken in order to overcome shrimp death problem due to the lack of oxygen. According to the stability needs, this system is developed based on fuzzy logic controller to overcome robustness problem against the pond environment. The fuzzy logic controller is implemented on a microcontroller which is integrated with several auxiliary equipments. The test results show that the control system can maintain dissolved oxygen at acceptable value around 6 ppm with the standard deviation of 0.12 ppm for a long-term use. The system also able to overcome disturbance occurrence and adapt on changing set point.
