Approach for 10 Gb/s Silicon Integrated Optical Receiver for GPON

This paper presents our development of an integrated optical receiver based on active silicon photonic ICs for GPON solutions. The receiver core was fabricated and characterized for rates up to 10 Gb/s. The optical core is composed of a triplexer filter with integrated Ge photodetectors in the digital downstream reception at 1490 nm and in the analog video operating at 1550 nm. This approach was characterized in two levels: one focused on device, characterized through optical-electric band (OE), followed by a systemic level study, focusing on performance in data transmission through eye diagram.
