Radar Backscatter Measurements of Road Surfaces at 77 GHz

This paper describes some of the extensive measurements taken at 77 GHz of various surfaces relevant to driverless cars. Targets of particular interest are those that will be indicative of a car's position on the road as well as those that occur during inclement weather, when visibility is limited. Results are compared to similar measurements at different frequencies when available.
