High Aperture Efficiency 2D Center-fed Transmission Line-Grid Antenna

This paper proposes a 2D single-point-fed transmission-line grid design that operates as a standing-wave antenna (SWA) featuring both extremely high aperture and radiation efficiencies. The generated pencil beam is directed at broadside. This broadside beam is maintained over a reasonable bandwidth and does not squint or split with frequency. The proposed structure is simply center-fed from the back using a coaxial cable where a printed λ/4-transformer matching network is also integrated.
