Bandwidth Reconfigurable Cylindrical Dielectric Resonator Antenna Excited by Double-Ring Slot

A frequency-reconfigurable cylindrical dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) fed by double-ring slots is presented. The DRA is capable of bandwidth tuning at three different frequency bands between 2.58 and 3.04 GHz. Four p-i-n diode switches, implemented bias voltage using metalized vias, are located on the diameter line along with x -axis at the bottom. Through the combination of different switching actions, the effective current path of the feed for dielectric resonator has changed, which varies the bandwidth of the proposed antenna. The overall dimension of the antenna is 50 × 50 × 16.537 mm³.
