Implementation and testing of JANUS and AORUN acoustic communication algorithms

Terrestrial communication has seen a large expansion over the past few decades. We've advanced from landlines to cellphones, and with the development of technologies and research done, today's terrestrial communication is based on a dense wireless infrastructure founded on extremely capable low-cost hardware platforms. During the same time, the interest in creating underwater networks for use in commercial and military application has increased. This paper will focus on two particular technologies, JANUS and AORUN, implemented on a software-defined acoustic modem enabling interoperability in underwater acoustic communication.
