Robust Load Frequency Control with Electric Vehicles in the Grid

The decades old problem of power system frequency stability, is tried to be resolved at the time by the available resources accordingly. Currently, in new power system with the inclusion of new generation sources and loads like Renewable Energies (RE) and Electric Vehicles (EV) the Load frequency control (LFC) problem has emerged again. A robust H_∞ controller based on Static Output Feedback (SOF) mechanism is proposed to solve and find an optimal solution for the LFC problem. Linear matrix inequality (LMI) toolbox in Matlab is used to find an optimal SOF control law (u = Ky). The resulted optimal solution is supposed to stabilize the power system internally against the external and internal disturbances and noises. This practically easily implementable control law will facilitate the integration of variable energy sources and loads more efficiently into the power system.
