Warming and Load Testing of Steel Ground Wires in Laboratory : Simplified Load Testing

Among extreme weather conditions icing ist one of the main factor, that caused significant damages on several sections of transmission and distribution networks in the last few years. Especially a lot of damages (broken wires, leaning or falling of towers were caused in 2013 and 2014. First of all Ground Wires are exposed to icing. The design measuring supports the elaboratorion of possible solutions, which I personally carried out in laboratory of the Technical University of Kosice. During the measuring processes I examined the heating of different kinds of Ground Wires under current load. To measurements I choose the most commonly used Hungarian standard wires.
