A Review of Maximum Power Point Tracking Controls and Wind Electric Generators

The wind energy has become most popular source of renewable energy source owing to the significant contribution towards meeting the energy demand around the earth. This paper reviews the different version of Maximum Power Point Tacking (MPPT) control algorithms and wind electric generators. Among various types of gear train coupling, the gearless or directly allied permanent magnet type wind generators are more popular nowadays in wind energy market in on shore application, in addition offshore also. The synchronous generators and asynchronous generators with different types of MPPT control techniques are reviewed and presented in this paper. Also different types of maximum power point tracking techniques are widely reviewed.
