Organic Humidity Sensors with Different Materials and Its Application in Environment Monitoring

The paper reviews humidity sensors based on different organic semiconducting materials including phthalocyanines, organic conductive polymers and DPP. Subsequently, it also discusses different organic sensitive materials for substrates and electrodes that are very useful for humidity sensors. The encouragement of using organic materials for humidity sensor is because of their easier deposition, their modifiability and overall low cost. Sensor performance depends on response time, recovery time, sensitivity, selectivity and stability, therefore, these parameters are deeply discussed in this paper. Additionally, based on these performance parameters comparisons of organic humidity sensor materials, their electrical properties such as response time, sensitivity, detection range with respect to change in relative humidity are elaborated in-depth. Moreover, different organic materials used in humidity sensors and their effect on electrical properties are summarized. In the field of research and development, humidity sensors are used for a wide variety of applications including semiconductor industry, medical applications, textile production, food processing and agriculture significantly.
