Effect of Punching Parameters on the Burr Height of the Bracket Product

Punching is one of the most popular processes for cutting in which materials are removed from the piece of sheet metal. The edges of these punched features have some burrs from being sheared step that relates to many factors such as the shearing force, geometric shape, punch and die parameters. The bracket product in Schindler company have a problem with the high value of burrs that must be passed through the grinding after punching process that leads to high product cost and high product cycle time. In order to solve those problems, the clearance as the gap between the cutting edge of punch and the cutting edge of die, the height of hole for dropping scrap and the cutting angle are optimized basing on the numerical and experimental analyses. The result shows that the height of burrs is reduced significantly that the burrs are smaller than $\theta.35$ mm satisfying the company requirement. Also, the experimental and numerical results have a good agreement.
