The importance given to the ethics education of engineering students in the academic production and dissemination

Although there is a widespread consensus on the importance of including ethics education in engineering courses, in Portugal this inclusion is still very sparse. This raises the question of what is behind such a scenario. Considering that scientific production and dissemination play a crucial role in the selection, validation and valuation of knowledge in the academic field, this study investigate the presence (and absence) of scientific publications about ethics education of engineering students. The results show a reduced presence of publications concerning the teaching of engineering in Portugal, which probably leads to a lack of awareness on its importance and need.
