A Two-stage Rolling Scheduling Strategy for Battery Energy Storage in Multi-periods Electricity Market

As the technical advance of battery energy storage technology, the application of battery energy storage in power system is gaining more and more worldwide attention, which brings promising commercial opportunity for battery energy storage in electricity market. In this paper, we focus on independent bulk energy storage system seeking to maximize its revenue through participating in both day-ahead energy market and hour-ahead market as well as providing spanning reserve service. Considering uncertainty of market prices, a two-stage rolling scheduling strategy is proposed, including optimal day-ahead offer/bid strategy and hourly rolling scheduling strategy in operating day. The validity of proposed optimal operation strategy is demonstrated through case study results.
