Automatic testing of automotive electronic modules for cranking conditions

An automatic solution for implementing the testing of automotive electronic modules for cranking conditions is presented. The solution is based on an arbitrary power generator able to be programmed to repeatedly output a pulse of required shape. It is described the development of a software application which performs the automated testing using the graphic programming environment LabVIEW. The communication between sourcing and sensing devices is done through GPIB interface using SCPI commands. For validation a self test procedure was defined for cranking pulse.
