Leakage Current Characteristics of 20 kV Epoxy Resin Insulators Under Variation Humidity

Outdoor insulators are susceptible to many variations of environmental conditions, including humidity and temperature variations. Changes in conditions that can cause pollutants and performance of outdoor insulator will decrease. In this paper we will discuss the comparison of leakage current of silicon rubber, same sheed epoxy resin of rice husk ash and different sheed epoxy resin of rice husk ash insulator with different variation of humidity and applied stress. From the test, it was found that the contact angle of silicon rubber insulator was 81,440. The contact angle of different sheed epoxy resin of rice husk ash insulator before smoothed has 99,700 contact angle but after smoothed its value turns to 66,090. The contact angle of same sheed epoxy resin of rice husk ash before smoothed has was 110,570 but after smoothing its value turns to 70,87°. Surface leakage current of the smallest silicon rubber isolator occurs at a voltage of 11 kV when humidity 50% is equal to 0.01877 mA, while the highest leakage current occurs at a voltage of 15 kV when 90% humidity of 0.030212 mA. Leakage current of smallest different sheed epoxy resin of rice husk ash insulator occurs at 11 kV voltage when humidity 50% is equal to 0.02147 mA, while the highest leakage current occurs at 15 kV voltage when humidity 90% is equal to 0,032117 mA. Leakage current of the smallest same sheed epoxy resin of rice husk ash occurs at 11 kV voltage when humidity 50% is 0,01990 mA, while the highest leakage current occurs at 15 kV voltage when humidity 90% is equal to 0,031695 mA.
