Study of Appliance Candidates Estimation Method for Smart Plug by French Data

Smart plug is a promising device for smart home to realize energy monitoring and switch on/off of ordinary appliances. As pairing an appliance with a smart plug is necessary and tedious, some users may not perform properly. In order to mitigate this task, we propose a method to estimate appliance candidates from electricity energy consumption of the appliance measured by the smart plug. This method enables users to select the correct appliance from the appliances presented in the descending order of connection probability. The result shows that the estimation accuracy rate for all the appliances was more than 65% and the estimation accuracies of certain appliances were individually more than 80%.
