Challenging the Education in the Open Laboratory

The paper proposes innovative method of IT education based on continuous challenges and students' competition in the open laboratory. In the paper we identify important changes in the society that challenges university education in the last decades. Our method tries to address these common issues and challenges concentrating on students' motivation and transparency in education. In our method teacher defines various kinds of challenges for students while students constantly competes in well-defined competitions. Students' results are transparently presented and compared during these competitions. As a platform for competitions we built the OpenLab. OpenLab is a unique space for building interactive multimedia applications with natural user interfaces. OpenLab suits as digital vernissage in our educational method.
