Chaotic Cryptosystems for Multimedia Transmission Opportunities, Challenge and Limitations

In the past years, transmitting multimedia data over the Internet and through mobile phones has significantly evolved. Moreover, the provision of information security services that transmit and store data with confidentiality over wireless networks is becoming important with regard to the sensitivity of the multimedia content, especially in military, industry and government activities. Therefore, to meet this challenge a lot of research directed towards the development of specific cryptosys-terns has been performed. However, these cryptosystems have critical real-time constraints. In this context, we will provide an overview of the mechanisms used in encryption, especially chaos-based technique. Through a comparative analysis of chaos-based cryptosystems such as Chirikov map, Chebyshev map, Lorenz map, Logistic map and Arnold Cat map. We illustrate the advantages of chaotic encryption.
