Design of filter-horn antenna based on groove gap waveguide technology for V-band application

In this paper, the low loss groove gap waveguide is used for the design of a filter-horn antenna in the millimeter wave (mmw) frequency band of 60 GHz. The antenna consists of three sections: transition from rectangular waveguide WR-15 to the groove gap waveguide, 3^rd order coupled resonator band pass filter and horn antenna. The antenna pattern is end-fire. For the reduction of the back-lobe radiation, a corrugated wall as soft surface is designed on the exterior surface of the horn antenna. The computer simulation is obtained by two commercial softwares of CST and HFSS for the validation of filtenna performance. In the frequency band of 61 to 64 GHz, the gain and radiation efficiency are 9.2 to 13 dBi and 90%, respectively.
