Power Allocation for Underwater Source Nodes in UWA Cooperative Networks

For the underwater acoustic cooperative networks (UWA-CN), the energy supply of underwater nodes is severely limited and the operation of equipment replacement is extremely complicated. In this paper, we propose a practical method of nodes power allocation (P-NPA) for UWA-CN to solve the above problems. This method allocates the power of each node based on the distance of each link and the residual energy of each transmitting node. We compare the complexity of the proposed P-NPA method with that of the traditional exhaustive method. In addition, we compare the system energy consumption between the P-NPA and equal power allocation (EPA) by simulation communication experiment. The result shows that the P-NPA can effectively reduce the total energy consumed in the system, and has low complexity, when meet the required system outage probability.
