Efficiency Improvement of Isolated Bidirectional Boost Full Bridge DC-DC Converter

Meeting increasing demands of recent renewable energy systems, dc-dc converters with isolation function became widely deployed as the essential power conversion elements. Such converters may as well be required for wide input voltage range and fault tolerance as desirable features. This paper proposes efficiency improvement schemes of isolated bidirectional boost full bridge dc-dc converter which features high efficiency and stable operation with active voltage clamping snubber and active start-up assist circuit. The converter is prototyped and experimental result proves the feasibility of the proposed scheme in the output power up to 10 kW.
