A New High Accuracy Generator Dynamic Model

This article analyzes the generator dynamic models most commonly used in the commercial power system simulation programs. A new type of generator dynamic model is proposed for improving the modeling accuracy and dynamic performances. Mathematical derivations are detailed to provide the origin of the new model. Comparisons are made using field testing data on round-rotor and salient-pole generators. The advantage and effectiveness of the new model are demonstrated. Further study and future work on the new model are proposed and discussed.
