Matlab Modeling of Real Grid for Fault Analysis

This paper presents matlab model of a 22kV real grid with the aim of detecting different types of faults. The model enables setting the fault location and obtaining the relevant currents in the system. A technique for locating faults on rural distribution feeders has also been suggested. Different faults have been simulated using the developed model. the simulation result have been compared with experimental data from the real grid. It also presents a technique that estimates the exact area of fault on the feeder(real grid). Dissimilar possible types of fault were recorded, tested and few critical results obtained were promising and expected.
