A New Method for Transcranial Vortex Microwave Beam Imaging

This paper presents a novel brain imaging method, which is based on the transcranial vortex microwave beam (TVMB) illumination and the dynamic confocal collection (DCC). The TVMB is realized by a vortex antenna on the top of head, with its axis towards the center of the head while the DCC is a horizontal ring array of 8 antenna elements with the same center. It is found by simulation that the imaging performance can be improved greatly when focusing factor is introduced in the head model. The result shows that this approach is a very promising solution to achieve high quality microwave imaging for intracranial hemorrhage detection.
