Online Vocabulary QuizMASter Game for College English Test Band 4

The lack of interest in English among students is a common challenge to college English teachers in China. To stimulate students' interest and promote the effectiveness in English learning, this paper presents a work-in-process research - designing an online English vocabulary quizmaster game for College English Test Band 4 (CET 4). This design is theoretically based on the Flow theory and the Community of Inquiry framework for learning. Client requirement analysis was done through a survey of college students, which had been designed on the Flow theory of motivation and Community of Inquiry framework for computer-mediated learning. We also introduced the interface design for the implementation of the online multi-user Multi-Agent System game. The framework is composed of four interfaces: learner interface, game interface, teacher interface and administer interface. Feedback is adoptedtoadjustethisframeworkandensureitsefficiency.
