Calligraphy: A Mobile Device Based Annotation Tool Supporting Learner Crowdsourcing

Annotations play an important role in making objects understood by machines in building semantic web and providing samples for machine learning. They also help learners acquire information on the annotated targets. In order to achieve good annotation qualities, we design a crowdsourcing tool to help collect and store different types of annotation including handwriting, drawing and any other files made by different users. In our design we realize a four-layer mechanism that records raw data of users' annotating behaviors. Our system helps describe objects in the background images. The relative information including annotation and resources will be delivered according to the annotations made by other users. We also implement our system on Android based tablets and use the system in an educational setting. Our application performs as a crowdsourcing homework revising tool for users to revise the homework and take notes.
