Functional Testing Procedures and Results for a Rehabilitation Robotic System

This work presents ongoing research activities for developing and functional testing of an upper limb rehabilitation robotic system needed by Prokinetic Rehabilitation Clinic. Considering the new researches in rehabilitation robotics due to increasing complexity, and the absence of dedicated standards, this paper presents how safety and functional analyses for a designed robotic rehabilitation system were carried. The results of tests and the risk analysis for this system that highlights types of possible accidents and identifying the dangerous situations that could cause such accidents, is also presented. The aim, from the beginning of designing and development of this robotic rehabilitation system, was that the system should be trusted by both types of users (therapists and patients).
