Automatic Implantable Insulin Pump, adapted to Normal Activity of the Pancreas

It is proposed in the work and it is shown in numerical model experiments the possible software-model solution of the problem of elaborating an automatic control system for an implantable insulin pump, adapted to the real activity of the pancreas. The algorithm for managing the work of the best existing implantable insulin pumps is based on the concept of normoglycemia in the form of a range of its permissible values that ensure the absence of hypoglycemic conditions of the patient. This leads to the elimination of postprandial rising of glycemia in the patient, providing him with vital energy, or to the chronic hyperglycemia and the development of late dangerous complications of Diabetes mellitus. The proposed algorithm of the automatic control system of the insulin pump similar to the physiological system of carbohydrate exchange regulation, performs a triune function with the patient's free diet: avoiding both chronic hyperglycemia and chronic hypoglycemia as well as providing short-term hyperglycemic postprandial normal elevations in the glycemic levels. This result was achieved owing to that the dynamic setting of the normoglycemia is represented by the glycemic output of the physiologically adequate mathematical model of the system of carbohydrate exchange regulation with a real glucose absorption function in the patient's intestine.
