Insulation Characteristics of Cold Dielectric High Temperature Superconducting Cable

Up to now, the lapped insulation is the insulation measure for most high temperature superconducting cables, whose material is mainly insulating paper. As superconducting cables should be operated under low temperature environment, low temperature characteristics of the insulating cable have become important indexes for the insulation design of the high temperature superconducting cables, and it is indispensable to conduct the experiment for the low temperature characteristics for the insulating paper. This paper has conducted the AC voltage withstanding test and analysis under the low temperature environment (LNG, 77K), has come to the conclusion of the insulation parameters of the PPLP based on the Weibull distribution under the characteristic experiment illustrated above according to the PPLP, and has provided reliable foundations for the application of the insulation materials in the insulation design of high temperature superconducting cables.
