Parameter Optimization Design of MMC-EVIS

MMC-based EV fleet integration system (MMC-EVIS) is a promising solution to promote the development of vehicle to grid (V2G) technology, then to make maximum use of EVs to provide ancillary service for the utility. However, due to the particularity of EV, the optimal design of the main parameters of power stage, such as the AC&DC voltage level and the cascaded module number of each arm and alike, is important to the safe and reliable operation of the system. Based on the multi-objective power management strategy, the optimal design criteria for main parameters including MMC modulation index, maximum arm current and peak charging power coefficient are put forward to obtain the security region for system operation in this paper. Detailed optimal configuration process is discussed. And a medium-sized MMC-EVIS model with rated power of 480kW, 1kV AC voltage and 48 EVs is developed in Matlab/Simulink. Simulation results indicate that the system parameter optimization is reasonable and necessary, which provides a reference for the construction and operation of the MMC-EVIS.
