Control Design of Standalone Brushless Doubly-Fed Induction Generator for Supplying Unbalanced Loads

This paper proposes a control method for standalone operation of the brushless doubly-fed induction generator (BDFIG) under unbalanced loads. The unbalanced loads will lead to unbalanced power winding (PW) voltage, which can be divided to the positive- and negative-sequence voltages. In the proposed control method, the positive-sequence voltage is controlled by using the direct voltage control (DVC) method. The negative-sequence voltage is eliminated by adding compensation loop to the machine side converter (MSC). The effectiveness of the proposed control method is validated by the simulation and experimental results.
