Evaluation of Authentication Based Elliptic Curve Cryptography in Wireless Sensor Networks in IoT Context

Wireless Sensor Network(WSN) is the promise architecture of Internet of Things(IoT). WSN is composed by tiny devices(sensors, or actuators) with low battery power and can be deployed on any type of environment like agriculture, military, health, smart cities, ... Integration of WSN in IoT brings a new architecture with high level of security requirements. To secure end-to-end connections in the IP-based IoT, many research studies focused especially on combining existing protocols of Wi-Fi networks with newer IoT proposed ones. In this paper we implemented the Host Identity Diet Exchange Protocol(HIPDEX) and its security features in a sensor environment to acheive mutual authentication between an end user and a static sensor (that offer the service in the network). Furthermore,quantitative evaluation of our implementation and a real experiment will be shown in ths paper. we, also, prove the performance efficiency of HIP-DEX in terms of computing latency that, certainly, has a direct influence on energy consumption.
