Efficient and Novel Broadcasting in VANET using Next Forwarder Selection Algorithm

Vehicular ad hoc network performs crucial function in road safety, detection of traffic accidents and reduction of traffic congestion by disseminating messages among vehicles. An efficient broadcasting of emergency messages among vehicles in vehicular ad hoc network is proposed in this work. The main objective of the proposed broadcasting algorithm is to minimize the broadcast storm at the time of dissemination of emergency message among vehicles. The performance of the scheme is studied on the basis of emergency message dissemination delay, network overhead and reachability and it outperforms the existing schemes.
